Sprucing Up Your Entryway: 4 Staging Tips

By diane-bercik | August 7, 2018 | For Sellers, Maui Living

When staging your home to sell, your front entryway deserves plenty of time and attention.

This area will be a focal point in the listing photos and marketing flyers, when people pass by your home in person, and the a buyer’s first impression when they arrive for a tour.

Here are a few easy tips that will make your entryway shine.

Clean the Area Thoroughly

Cleaning is key. Remove landscaping debris, cobwebs, and dust. Deep clean any paved areas by power washing.

Focus on the Fixtures

Next, spend time scrutinizing your fixtures.

This includes door hardware as well as light fixtures and the doorbell or knocker on the door. They should ideally all have the same finish and should look modern and attractive.

Updating these features is generally an affordable way to improve your home’s curb appeal.

Make the Front Door Shine

The front door should not look worn or dirty. It may be as simple as just re-painting or re-staining, or it may be worth the more costly step or replacing the door altogether. While this may seem like an expensive upgrade, it’s one that you can almost certainly recoup a significant amount of value from when you go to sell the home.

Welcome Your Visitors

Put out the welcome mat, literally. If you already have one, make sure it is not worn or faded.

You can also add potted plants around the front entryway to make this area appear more inviting and hospitable.
